The tournament said it will help, but it will not petition
That answer is common and useful. It tells counsel to stop treating the event operator as the filing entity and start documenting each participant's real role.
What the event operator can still do
- Confirm the event name, venue, dates and relevant tournament category.
- Confirm how the player obtained a seat or invitation.
- Provide or authenticate public materials showing the field, structure and reputation of the event.
- Identify the proper venue or casino contact for operational confirmation.
What the letter should not say
A confirmation letter should not describe the tournament as the employer, sponsor or petitioner unless that entity has agreed to the role and the statement is accurate. Inflating the relationship creates contradictions across the letter, agreements and Form I-129.
Tournament or venue
Confirms firsthand event facts. It does not take on filing obligations merely by helping.
U.S. employer or agent
Accepts the petitioner role and supplies the contracts and itinerary required for that posture.
The documents should meet before filing
The event confirmation, deal terms and itinerary should use the same names, dates, venues and activity descriptions. If the U.S. dates remain provisional, counsel should identify that honestly and use the most authoritative calendar available rather than inventing certainty.
USCIS's Form I-129 instructions describe the general and agent-specific itinerary requirements for O and P petitions. The player's attorney decides how those rules apply to the proposed filing.
Where Aventus enters

Common questions
Is a refusal from the tournament fatal?
Not necessarily. It means another qualifying petitioner must be identified and the event operator's role must remain limited to accurate evidence.
Can the venue or casino be the petitioner instead?
Only if it agrees and the real relationship supports that role. A venue may instead be the best source for an event confirmation.
Should the filing conceal that the tournament declined?
No. The documents should describe the actual relationships and responsibilities.
